Teddy Purcell netted the game-tying goal to force overtime, as the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Buffalo Sabres Tuesday night.
“We dug ourselves in a little hole but we showed a lot of resiliency and character and that’s good to see that early on,” Purcell said after the game.
Ben Bishop moved to 2-0-0, as he made 21 saves on 23 shots. Both goals Bishop allowed came on the power play.
The Lightning will host in-state rival Florida in their home opener Thursday night.
“We’re always a pretty good team on home ice so I hope we can carry that momentum on Thursday,” Purcell said.
